Broken Seal 1

My buddy Scott Pero sent me a file with all of my old BROKEN SEAL comic strips that I made back in the day. Because I’m terrible at keeping things, I figured that I’d never see these again.

I did 40 BROKEN SEAL comic strips in all. At the time, I was doing another comic strip called YOUTH IN ASIA, which was published a TooSquare, a local monthly newspaper. If I’m not mistaken, I did 12 of those. Unfortunately, those are still missing (and, sadly, unGoogleable).

BROKEN SEAL was based loosely on my life living in South Tampa and it followed myself, Derrek (based on Derrek Carriveau) and Scott (based on Scott Pero). The humor was a bit crude at times, but overall it was ridiculous and playful. I remember having a lot of fun making these, though my “art process” tended to be crazy slow.

Thanks to Scott for keeping these and sending them to me. Below is one my favorites. Sadly, the quality isn’t all that great (it’s been 12 years), but you’ll get the point.
