Listen to “The Mariachi”

White Russian ArtAs I mentioned in this week’s commentary, back in 2003 – in association with Screaming Sound – we recorded seven of my stories for a CD collection called White Russians. Over the years, the stories have been made available over the internet, and since I’m in full swing with promoting Empty Rooms Lonely Countries, now would be a good time to bring some of these tracks back.

Here is how White Russians was originally described:

A woman with a bizarre interest in pornography.
An Englishman trying to get himself deported.
A disillusioned porn star looking for magic.

These are a few of the people you’ll meet in White Russians. Sharp, honest, funny, sad, and surprisingly optimistic, White Russians is an audio adaptation of Christian A. Dumais’ autobiographical look at the schizophrenic decade leading into the new millennium through the eyes of those who drank through it. Wonderfully acted and beautifully realized with music and sound effects, this album of seven short stories captures all the madness and glory of a generation lost and out of control with none of the hangover.

MariachiIncludes seven tracks: ILLUSION OF SWING / MUTED PORN / THE MARIACHI / EMPTY SOCRATES / $24.99 / THIS IS NOT FOR YOU / PAYING THE TAB. Approx. 70 min. Produced by SCREAMING SOUND.

Narrated by Japhy Blackwell.

Featuring the voice talents of Jennifer Mangieri, Scott Pero, John Polo, Derrek Carriveau, Josie Kidd, RhondaK, Renee Lewis, Joe Davison, Holly Kovach, Christian A. Dumais, and Vincent Saletto.
