Ha!art #30Funny how these things work out. A few years ago, I spent a year studying liberature through the works of Zenon Fajfer and Katarzyna Bazarnik for my MA work. And though we corresponded briefly at the beginning, my contact with them was minimal, both because I respected their work greatly and my awkward social skills.

Earlier this year, they contacted me having read a piece I wrote on liberature for a Polish journal. And they graciously asked if they could translate and publish the piece for Ha!art.

And now, here we are. Translated by Joanna Pyra, my article “Wielogrywalność liberatury. Czy chciałbyś zapisać stan gry?” is now available in issue 30 of Ha!art.

Here’s how the issue is described at the Ha!art website:

Tematy numeru – Liberatura, Hipertekst, Cyberpoezja, Story art

W numerze: Ha!wangarda Krakowska – Od Peipera do Fajfera

Ankieta wśród literaturoznawców: LIBERATURA – awangarda XXI wieku czy nowe spojrzenie na stare dzieła literackie? (Gazda, Bodman, Kalaga, Łebkowska, Poprawa, Rapak, Korwin-Piotrowska)

Fajfer, Dunajko, Orszulewski, Przybyszewska, Gondowicz / Bartnicki, Kołos, Dumais, Olczyk, Jankowicz, Woynarowski, Fajfer, Szpindler, Shuty / Wei-Yun Lin-Górecka / Dziadkiewicz, Charnas, Mirahina, Kopyt, Karnowski, Pułka, Kapela, Bromboszcz, Podgórni / Nowakowski, Pisarski, Gryglicka, Marecki, Nowak, Bazarnik oraz Raymond Federman, Dante Alighieri, Georges Perec, Marcel Duchamp, Michael Joyce, William Szekspir

Obviously, it may interest you more if you know Polish.

The magazine itself is absolutely lovely, with some wonderful design work. As an object, it’s pretty mind-blowing. I haven’t been this impressed by a publication like this since Coilhouse. Check it out.

BOOKS

“I absolutely loved this book. EMPTY ROOMS LONELY COUNTRIES is bittersweet and touching, with some really funny bits . . . There are moments of sagacity and wisdom like I’ve rarely seen before, but it’s oh so sad – heartbreakingly, hauntingly, beautifully so . . . easily one of the my top ten favorite books of all time.” - TAMPA BOOK BUZZ
